Anhydrite crystals, Montrose Occurrence, Niagara Falls, Welland County, Ontario

A most unusual find of colorless to very pale purple lathlike crystals to 35 mm long, collected summer 2009. A common, rock-forming mineral, quite rare in sizeable crystals. This might be the best from Ontario, perhaps even Canada?? The Faraday / Madawaska Mine material has superior color but I believe never better than cleavage masses. Tim Jokela collection and photos.

A closeup of smaller crystals on the same piece, 15 mm long with dolomite
